...Lenten Sports?

Unlike every other school in the south of Britain, who have already begun their Easter Holidays, my school are still going until tomorrow. However, instead of having a couple of useful, proper school days, I guess they tried to make up for it by attempting to reignite our spirits with the 3rd annual Lenten Sports, a day which consists of "old school" sporting events (egg and spoon race, sack race, three-legged race and the like..), during lunchtime.
In all fairness, it went down rather well - my team came 2nd in the sack race and 1st in the 'mysterious' team game, plus I got to dust off the old Super Mario hat and moustache - but I had a couple of qualms with the day:
Firstly, what in the world does any of this have to do with Lent? Fair enough the money made from the day went to charity, but really? Egg & Spoon race for God? It didn't make an awful lot of sense the first time around, and it still doesn't make sense now. The strange things Catholic schools come up with, eh?
Secondly, we were given strict rules as to what we had to wear for the day. Personally, I would have been happy to wear my school uniform throughout lessons and simply change into my P.E kit when the time came for us to embarrass ourselves. Instead, we were instructed that we had to wear either our P.E shorts or any tracksuit bottoms, but if we were to wear leggings we must wear P.E shorts over them. INSANELY PATHETIC. Like, our deputy head, Mr Cornell (or Corn Dog, if you'd rather), kept telling people off for wearing leggings when clearly he was fighting a losing battle, as there were swarms of girls in leggings who didn't want to look any more stupid than they already had by doing the wheelbarrow race. Face it, Corn Dog, nobody listens to you. Ever.

To be fair it went better than I had expected, so kudos to the organisers of the day. It always helps when you have God on your side, doesn't it? He clearly summoned the sun for us, cos it was boiling during the events, but was raining by 4.30.

Anyway, I'll write again soon. Here's the picture I should have drawn last time:
Night, guys.
x,.
